Military

First I want to say that I love the new look and read your magazine faithfully. Having said that, I would like to pose a question. Why has the majority of your subject matter, including cover photos, been military? It seems that FSM is a military modeling magazine, while I am a big sci-fi buff, I also notice that there are hardly any cars or motorcycles reviewed.
Just wondering
Thanks

I don’t know about the Sci-Fi coverage, but in regards to cars and motorcycles, they have a sister magazine, , which covers that type of stuff.

While that is true, the title of the magazine is Fine Scale Modeler, not military modeler. The title suggests variety.

They’re catering to their audience. It just makes good business sense (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). A glance at these boards will show that the majority of people here build military models and I believe this is a good cross section of the modelling community. Realize that this statement is coming from a modeller who doesn’t build military models. Also, most dioramas that I have seen are of a military nature, and because of their very nature also make great magazine covers. That’s not to say that FSM doesn’t cover different subject matter as I’ve seen my favorite subject (airliners) at least mentioned almost every month along with the occasional workbench review.

The publishers have been pretty upfront about the fact that the articles that get submitted are the articles that get published. They’re not written by “professional” writers, just by modellers who thought it would make a neat article. So, want to see more [insert favorite subject here] articles? Write one up and submit it.

It does make good buisiness sense, dont get me wrong, I learn alot from the magazine and I do model military aircraft from time to time. So in short I wont stop buying the magazine:) And maybe I will write one of those reviews.

Didnt fineslace merge with miltary modeler? i know there is no military modeler becasue they merged with someone, and I think it was FSM. That would explain it.
