Yes, there are a couple of model shops in Leeds, both carry a modest range of kits and paint but nothing exotic like etch or resin sets.
There are better model shops in Wakefield and Halifax with far better ranges and stocks which is surprising as both are in far smaller towns than Leeds.
I can give more details about them if you need them.
As I expect like everywhere, there used to be a lot more model shops in Leeds, all closed now including Beatties where I bought kits as a kid.
I know very little about Manchester (except it rains a lot) and now seem to buy most of my modeling stuff on line or at shows.
The National IPMS show is coming up in Telford in a few weeks, the daddy of all shows…and I will be there for sure.
Cheers

Lenny, I could be wrong, probably am, but Conniston Waters springs to mind.

Lenny as im in Leeds I can give you a list of shops this side of the M62 best of the lot is Halifax modelers world in the Peice Hall in Halifax Dave has everything in there and if he hasn’t he will do you mail order. Somthing Wicked in Huddersfield is ok a lot of old Esci stuff in there. Pennine Models in Howarth lots of old and new in there. In Leeds you have just Toy world and the Model centre both mainly Die cast and Railways but usful for supplies in an emergency but little else. As for Manchester pish mate we want border control on the M62 so I dont have a clue they are all weird over there [:-,][swg][:-^]
And there’s more;
www,eaglemodels.co.uk - based in Tadcaster
www.marcway.co.uk - based in Sheffield
www.monkbarmodelshop.co.uk - based in York
See, there’s more out there than you think there are!
I mentioned wonderland models earlier on, I needed a Jaguar in 1/48th for a build I have to do for a mate. Found the Airfix Frontline Fighters set (Jag & Tornado F3) at wonderland for 9.99 ! thats half price! Yes, I know neither kit is excellent, but i enjoy the challenge! Welcome to the North, order your flat cap & whippet on line!
Pete
I saw the Jag & Tornado on eBay for a similar price the other day, but after reading comments on ARC about the Airfix Tornado, I didn’t bother following it any further.
Bread & dripping sandwich anyone?
Thanks guys for all your info [:D]
Not long now until I grace the north. Can’t wait.
Will check all the sites and shops you have given me.
Thanks again
Lenny [:D]

Oh Sean, you’ll be ok… we’ll still talk to you… for a price [;)]
Where are you again? How’s the Victor? I thought about mine, but I feel like poop tonight, so I haven’t been out & actually done anything on it yet!
Cheers Mike for reminding me its still soaking in the shed [:D]
As a matter of interest Sean (as Mike said) where are you? By the way love your quote - wish I could use it but come in the grandpa category!!
Heh - you’ll probably just have a dried up pan of melted plastic by now [:O]
Yes Big C, Leeds has a poor selection of model shops…there used to be more…sadly all closed down. Are you in IPMS ? We have quite an active branch here in Leeds meeting once a month…if you want to come along…let me know your e-mail and I will send you details.
Cheers

Blimey… if you Leeds boys don’t like Mancs, then what chance do us Cestrians have [:(]
In the big shanty town called London

I checked the Victor its ok
That’s good to hear. I actually thought about mine yesterday… that was before I got my latest bit of research through from the Stirling project. Some cracking interior disgrams & cutaways from a nice guy called Peter Howell.
