MiG-29 HUD question....

This is the front portion (glare screen and HUD) of Eduard Brassin resin cockpit set for Academy 1/48th MiG-29.

This is the first time I haven’t made a total mess of a HUD. It ain’t perfect but you should have seen the last one. Note the pic is overexposed to show my question part, the section is really two shades of flat black.

Far as I can tell, the Eduard instructions show the little flat clear ‘glass’ piece positioned as it is. This makes no sense to me, plus becasue I just glued it with white glue, a blob is visible underneath and is a horrid eyesore.

So before I move forward, or give up on this thing, can anyone tell me if I have totally mispostioned subject part? Should it perhaps be mounted vertically, IOW on the front of the HUD itself???

It’s underneath the actual hud, it has to be in order to display the computer information on the mounted glass.

The instructions could be a bit confusing I suppose. I have seen god knows how many errors in instructions.
