I have seen the Young Guns GB, and the Old Guns GB, but that leaves an age range untouched: 19-34 yrs. I’m not trying to be a wise guy or a stickler, just curious as to why no one has started a GB for those of us in the middle?
I’m 22, and while I do not feel left out of the “age” GB’s, some people might.
Is there a lack of members in this age group, or no interest, or just the simple fact that there are many, many GB’s ongoing to keep us occupied?
–EDIT–
I think there has been enough interest for this one to start up. Look here for changes, I will try to post them as neccesary. You can email me (jetjag01@hotmail.com) or post here to tell me if you want in and what you’ll be building.
You can build any scale, any subject. Multiple models? You got it! Put a few in that you’re building for another GB if you want. You have to be age 19-35 or close to it. ( a few months don’t matter). These rules may change, and they are by no means firm. If you have a question or idea, just ask.
This idea’s been proposed. There are enough of us in the “peak” of our lives here, but the truth of the matter is that the ‘peak’ carries peak responsibilities for all of us. Most people in this age group are busy with work, school, or family.
Yea, I guess I haven’t been thinking much about family since I’m still in school. Or maybe i am just in denial. Once I graduate in November, though, I’m sure all the time I usually spend building will be spent with the wife or at work. I feel a loooong break from modeling approaching. Man, it’s depressing to have to get out into “the real world”.
Ack, the real world blows. Even with this engineering job, I get all the money I need to get a sick amount of kits (reference to the thread i posted i general discussion), my daily exhausting commute puts me at a situation where i’d be looking at my models but found myself physically too tired to get focused and excited to build them. it’s ironic that i wanted to get out of school so fast so i can have a better regulated daily schedule to spend more time models.
I say we go ahead with the build, otherwise we’ll be known as the “Convenient Excuse Modelers” [;)]
We should allow a single project to go into multiple group builds. I’m building a Gundam, and then something for a Star Wars GB so I should have plenty of things to enter.
I think I would be up for joining the “middle weight” GB, as I fall into that category at 31. Know the feeling, I only touch my models on the weekends. Not sure exactly would get yanked out of the stash for the build, wouldn’t be hard to choose. Heads or tails if it gets to that.
Electrical. Currently doing mostly Computer Engineering work though. Bummer. Still I am ME at heart. Machines fascinates me a whole lot more than lil circuit drawings.
I’d totally go for a middleweight GB, though I have NO IDEA how these age group GB goes as far as topics are concerned. Go peek at one of them Old Gun GBs and see how that’s run.
Well, I have some sort of idea, based on how often everyone here claims to build.
I propose the Middle Wieght Group Build AKA the “When am I going to finish this?!” GB.
I know I will not have a lot of time for this, so I think it would be best to leave it open-ended, at least for a while. Maybe, if we get enough interest, we can set a finish date.
As for the start, how about the first of '06, that way it can be the MWGB06?
Like the other age GBs, any subject, any scale, combine with other builds if you want/neeed to. Pretty much no rules (except ages 19-34 ONLY), just show us what you got!
Thoughts and imput now, please! I hope we have enough interest for this one.
haha. I think you should put the age to be 19 to 35. (I’d draw the line at 39). that way mike won’t feel as left out. then we can send him off to the old gun GB. LOL.
I was wondering what the sigh was for. I really didn’t mean to exclude you, Mike. If you’re close enough on the age, then you can join, I don’t think a few months make much difference.
I guess I’m sort of in charge of this one. Yay! If anyone wants to throw in thier [2c] then go ahead, I want this to be enjoyable for everyone.
