Which one of the two is stronger. I,m trying to get some decals to conform to an aircraft with corregated sheet panels, and iv’e used micro sol six times and still they won’t comepletly lay down. I’ve also hit them with solvaset, with the same results. I can see that repeated aplications are needed, but which one should I stick with? I need something very aggressive. Any ideas?

Solvaset is much stronger than MircoSol and I consider it my “last resort” when getting decals to cooperate. In general, if I use MicroSol and observe ANY cooperation in the decals, I will continue using MicroSol three, five, even ten times before resorting to Solvaset. It is only when the MicroSol shows no effect whatsoever, that I reach for the heavy artillary.
Robert,
Thanks for the reply,it’s much appreciated. I think i’ve reached the point where it’s not only time for the heavy artillary, but an all out air-strike. These decals are not responding to microsol anymore and don’t really seem to respond to solvaseteither. I’m now about to resort to surgery to correct my problem. I’m thinking that if I slit the decal across the low groove in the corregations that they may lie down for good. Generally speaking, 75% of the decal is cooperating. The other 25%, is stretching itself, taut across the high grooves on the panels. My thinking is that if I make a relief cut, it’ll snuggle down. Of course, I’ll probably have to do some touch up painting inside the decal. Fortunately, the only colors are black and white so matching won’t be an issue. I hope this works. I’m spending way too much time on what is usually a straight forward task.
Thanks again,
Jerry
Jerry,
You’ve run into the same problem I had with decals on the NX-01 I built. I really didn’t spend the time up front getting the decals tucked down as much as I probably could have. After that, no matter how much Solvaset I put on them, they just would not go any further and I had to resort to relief cuts. That was the build where I finally realized that decals will only stretch so much.
Good Luck - Robert
Thanks Robert, and BTW,…It’s working!!

Jerry - something another member here did was after the first couple of applications of microsol and it didn’t settle, he ran the back of an exacto down the groove GENTLY to get it to sit in the panel line. Then he hit it with Microsol again and it layed right into it…
