Aloha all,
I just purchased some Micro Sol from Sprue Brothers, but they were all out of the Micro Set. I’ve read that it’s basically an acetic acid solution; can I make my own with white vinegar? How much should it be diluted, if at all?
By the way, Sprue Brothers got my order shipped in less than 2 hours; pretty good in my book, and they immediately updated their stock listing on their web page to reflect what I had purchased. I like that.
Much mahalos.
Judge - boy, I wish I knew the answer as I also suspect that the Micro-Mark solution that I am using is basically white vinegar.
Maybe, we/somebody needs to do some sample testing??? [;)]
For years I’ve been using cheap white vinegar straight from the bottle. I can’t tell the difference. I even keep it in my Micro Set bottle.
Roosterfish - there you go! Finally someone admitting the use of a cheaper and more available alternative. The nose does not lie! [^]
Just what this forum is all about? Yes?
[yeah]
YEAH !!!..Thanks guys !
NOW…does anyone know of a good substitute for Micro-Sol ??
I don’t use it… I just use the vinegar on both sides… Apply it to the paint, then set the decal in place, then press it down hard with a cloth or paper towel, check for trapped air, then apply more vinegar over the top…
