Although I do like to base a lot of my dios upon factual pictures, this one is a pure figment of my imagination. I had bought the 1/72 HobbyBoss Mil Mi-4 Hound kit but did not feel like detailing the interior, so I thought I’d cover it up with its distinctive tarp and make it ‘at rest’. Then the size of the main rotor was too large for my display cabinet so I settled on an abandonned craft somewhere in Russia. I did use many photos to re-create the tarp, detail the rotor hub and to weather the 'copter, though ! The tarp is made from Milliput, directly applied, cut into shape and quilted onto the almost completed build. Three figures were sculpted to create this scene where a lovely female aircraft modeller becomes the main attraction for the male aircraft spotters, hence the title of this piece: Mi-4 ? What Mi-4 ?
I must admit that detailling the cockpit would in the end been WAY easier and faster than making this derelict 'copter..!
