Can I use this to clean my airbrush? It’s cheaper than Isopropyl Alcohol at the moment…
In the States methylated spirit is called Denatured Alchohol. DA may be up to 90% ethyl alchohol (ETOH, the drinking stuff) with the remainder made of methyl alchohol ( wood alcohol), acetone, pyridine, and/or other toxins. It is supposed to dissuade one from drinking the stuff for a cheap high.
The web has cautions about using DA for cleaning electronics as the minor components may affect the circuits or plastics. Using DA on the brass or chrome plated parts of an airbrush should be fine but use it with caution around the gaskets and seals.
Or use some Vodka or White Lightning. It may be a waste, but it is just pure ETOH and water.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it isn’t a solvent for mineral spirit based enamels, correct?

Life got easier for me when I just switched to hardware store lacquer thinner for everything except water based acrylics (Mission or Vallejo). It cuts dang near anything (fast) and is quite cheap. It takes less than a tablespoon to get the airbrush clean and then a few drops of milder hobby thinner to clear the needle before adding new paint.
In the UK, White Spirit is what we Stateside call Mineral Spirit. Mineral/White Spirits is a major component of ‘paint thinner’. Not to be confused with Methylated Spirits
