Guys, when kits call out Metallic grey, in this case, an Academy kit, what color are they shooting for? Would MM Gunmetal or jet exhuast be it?

What area requires the painting of metallic grey? If I know the area, I or someone would be able to give you a specific answer. Sometimes Gunmetal is refered to as metallic grey, especially when it comes to engine parts or exhaust areas.
The aircraft is an OV10A Bronco. The color is designated for the exhaust pipes…which I would think would be a rust color. Unless it has some kind of heat sheild on it.

The exhaust was made of titanium. Metallic grey would be the wrong color for it. I would suggest titanium metalizer for the correct color.
That’s what I was afraid of. This thing is 1/72 scale and those two parts are extreamly small. Kind of a shame to go through all that air brushing for such small parts. Oh well…such as life. [:)]
Thanks, Berny.
Dana,
If they are as small as you say, you can successfully brush on MM Metallizers, let it dry, then lighly buff/highlite with the end of a q-tip. In addition to the Titanium color that Berny recommends, Testors also makes a buffable color appropriately named “exhaust”, that may also fit your requirements.

If metalizers can be brushed, I’ll give it a try. Thanks styrene.
Although Berny has already said that you actually need titanium color, if needed I think Tamiya has a “metallic grey” in both acrylic and enamel.
