[?]Ive looked all over for this particular kit in a 1/48th scale. Would anyone out there know where I could purchase one?
Have you tried e-bay?

It seems that ProModeller has a 1:48 kit of the night fighter version, and I suspect that a newer kit is coming out from somebody, since I’m working on a translation of a book about the Bf 110 and usually the books that I’ve translated come out around the same time as a new model. I don’t know any details, though.
I hear the current Revell Germany issue is very good. Heard the same about the Mauve kit from a few years ago (pretty rare), which was basically a corrected Fujimi kit. I suppose the Fujimi one can’t be all that bad then. Maybe the cockpit’s lacking, I don’t know. This is all second-hand knowledge because I haven’t built any of the kits. But there’s enough folks on the forum that have, so over to you gentlemen…
I don’t know if this is what you wanted to know, but Pro modeller made a kit of the
Me-110G-4 in 1/48 scale a while ago. Here’s a link to a review of the kit: http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/axis/luft/cleaver110g.htm .
Fujimi is coming back out with its line of 1/48th Me-110’s. I have one of the older offerings that I grabbed off of Ebay.
the current issue of FSM has an ad for the Fujimi 48th ME110 with the long range Dachshund belly fuel tank.
This is a re-release of the old kit, but offers recessed panel lines and is not too bad if the memory serves me well.
Try http://www.greamodels.com here you can find some 1/48 and 1/72 Bf -110’s… and a lot of stuff for making a good conversion from day fighter to night fighter
If wanted, here is a little information of Messerschmitt Bf110 variants in 1/48 scale:
-Fujimi made a Bf110C and Bf110C/D (“Dackelbauch”, the huge bellytank)
-Astrokit has also a Bf110C. This is the Fujimi mold
These are old kits, but they are still good - as oggy4624 says, with recessed panel lines
-Revell did a Bf110G-2, the same kit comes from Revell Germany. It’s the dayfighter version in the Reichsverteidigung-role (Reichs defence).
-A special version from Revell is the same mold with an aditional resin nose for a four-machinegun-version instead of the usual two-canon-nose. The kit is called “Bf110G-2 ZG1 Wespengeschwader”
-Finally the Bf110G-4 from Revell (ProModeler and Revell Germany share this issue). Basically the same kit, but some different parts to do this nightfighter version with the big radar antenna array at the nose and flamedampers for the exhaust.
-Mauve had also a Bf110G in their range. I never had one from them, so I have no information about that (think, it would be a good quality and of course pretty expensive)
I think you have actually the choice of the G-2 dayfighter kits only - or have an eye on eBay…
