It looks so far so good. Beautiful model and perfect scale.
Just 2 days after my previous comments, today I got this very same kit at 50% off, net price = around $42. Very good price for this baby MTB.
Kyle sent me a quick update just now. He is close to the point where he’ll paint the model. Here are two photos.

Kyle just sent me an update … and, here it is: “Major milestone last night, the mounting blocks were drilled and tapped then the hull was glued on. I’m going to work on making a sacrificial stand to hold it for painting then I’ll be hopping back to the Saucy.” Here are two photos:

Suddenly the penny dropped. In a documentary on WW2 in Russia I saw one of these boats. Always wondered what it was. I think it was in one of the “Victory at Sea” videos. Could some of these have seen action in the Black Sea?
I wouldn’t know, sir. I know next to nothing about the G-5s. The kit was a gift to me from Tony Chin of Merit. I’m just glad someone’s building it for me.The hull of it sort of reminds me of a British CMB.
A rare model and interesting subject.
I will look at my Victory at Sea collection and see if I can find the film. Might have some interesting details re armament ect. of the boat in Russian service
Looks like a real nice build.
Cheers
Well, … yesterday, Kyle sent me an update on the G-5. Has primed the hull and put the white for the boot stripe on. Here are some photos:

This is indeed different !
Now I have seen some strange designs , but , this beats all . Funny , although a surface craft it resembles a submarine . Question . How did they launch the torps ? I should think that in some situations the aft hardware would , or could , be damaged . T.B.
The G-5s launched their torpedoes from their sterns, like the WW1 RN CMBs.
Kyle sent me an update. He has painted the guns for the G-5. Here’s a picture:
