This was a shelf queen i finished a couple months back…
Fantastic!!!
What red (Brand, color #) did you use?
I have a similar model in my stash.
It was the new AMMO Atom paint from their Basic Wargames Colors 1 set.
That red is stunning. Really nice finish. The wood prop is
This is the 32nd scale kit, yeah? How big is that model? Hard to get a sense of it from the photos. Were those big flat decals a challenge? They look excellent.
Yes 1/32…
These WWI crates were considerably smaller than their later cousins…its not much bigger than say a 1/48 Avenger…but I can try to measure it when i get home. Decals weren’t too bad with some Micro Set and Sol…
Excellent build! Love the finish.
I’m pretty sure he had different iterations of his Fokker…
Beautiful Fokker! That shade of red is perfect and I agree with the others that your technique for wood on the prop is so realistic looking. Is this the kit that had a problem with wrapped wings when it was first issued?
So I use a flesh color as my base and then either oils or AMMO Oilbrushers to apply the darker color which I streak with a brush barely damp with Turpenoid.
Not sure on the wings…I know its basically the Wingnut Wings kit that didn’t get released before they shut down which Meng picked up…
I think the Baron would be proud of your model. It’s really nice. The best thing about a DR1 is NO RIGGING.
So I couldn’t find my ruler but the size of the wingspan and length was pretty comparable to a 1/48 Me-109 I had nearby on the shelf.
An outstanding build in every aspect @Jeeves . That prop is the “bee’s knees” and you got a good color down for the Baron build. Beautiful plane bub.
I do like these birds and ended up building mine in the 1/76 scale Metal Earth version.
Oh man…that takes some brass ones dealing with all that PE sir…I’ve looked at those kits and happily walked away empty-handed haha
Here’s the thread on that if you would like to check it out Jeeves,
Mucho respect Joe- that looks amazing but I’ve nowhere near enough patience for that. My PE skills are purely adding screens and bending the occasional box or two.
LOL! I hear ya…AND there’s so much available now in the world of 3D printing.
