Meng 1/35th scale Merkava Mk.4M

Meng offers a large selection of IDF armor. This is the 3rd one I’ve purchased. I’m amazed at the level of detail and quality of their kits. The fit is great too. Only two modifications were made. 1. I painted Vallejo rust texture on the top of the turret and the hull. This was to simulate the non-slip surface. If you’re going to use this, you need to make sure that you stirred it up really well to get all the sludge in the bottom mixed well with the liquid. 2. I encased both of the storage boxes on the back of the tank with tissue paper.
Gear was added to the top of the turret and the bustle rack.(Value gear). One figure from MiniArt is in the commanders hatch. To construct the base, I used furniture, grade plywood for the sides, and blonde wood for the top and bottom. (It’s light). A piece of oak trim, finishes off the bottom of the base.
The top of the base was covered with pre-sanded grout I purchased from Lowe’s. it’s already mixed up in a plastic tub. All you have to do is apply it with a spatula. I used an old brush to stipple the surface. It dries hard as a rock, and won’t come off the base. (I’ve tried.) you can airbrush it with any type of paint you want.
If you want to make pronounced tracks in the grout, you simply wet the tracks on the vehicle with water and then press it down into the grout. I used Vallejo thick mud and splash mud on both the tank, and the base. The grass was from Woodland scenic along with the trees/bushes.
If you have a chance to pick up any Meng kits, I would highly recommend it. You won’t be sorry
