Mega hobby is a Mega rip-off

When the Zvezda Star Destroyer came out they had it priced at about $170. You can find it everywhere else for about $110. Don’t make the same mistake I did with these people.

I think you’re over-reacting. I’ve done business with MegaHobby in the past and never had issues with their prices as long as I’ve done my price comparisons. Considering you’re bashing MegaHobby for their high prices, it pays to shop around. If you find it cheaper elsewhere, buy there. There’s no need for you to bash MegaHobby.

I’ve seen other online stores more expensive than MegaHobby. Internethobbies.com is one.

BS214,

You hit the nail on the head with that. That’s one of the great things about online hobby retailers…lots of choices. MegaHobby is high on certain things…that’s when you go elsewhere. I like Scalehobbyist.com because of their large selection, customer service, and low prices.

I’ve used Megahobby quite a bit over the years, never once had an issue. They have good prices on some things, less good on others. Really no different than most online sellers, it pays to shop around.

Mega Hobby has it right now for $116, but it is a reboxed version distributed through Revell. If you bought it last year as a Zvesda release, I think that is what you are seeing for the price difference.

Revell is a US company with a US distribution network making it much cheaper for US buyers. You see the same thing between Revell and Revell of Germany boxings of the same kit, the US Revell boxing tends to be about 2/3 the price of the RoG kit.

I’ve found prices at SpruBrothers and Scalehobbyist lower than any others. ACESES5 [2cnts]

Okay,thanks [8-)]

“I can’t believe I paid so much” is kind of self-explanatory, you know.

As a small business owner, I get a little miffed at folks however well meaning who post online with condemnations. If the charge was listed and that’s what was paid, there’s not a lot of room for complaint IMO.

Maybe you can get a refund.

With online shopping, if somebody is complaining about a price, they have to look in the mirror first. The price and shipping cost are usually listed up front. If you jump on the first kit you saw rather than taking the time to shop around, especially on a new release kit as opposed to a discontinued one that is now hard to find, the fault is not that of the seller.

I remember exactly what you mean . I had a Customer complain about a model I sold him as a vendor at a show . He came into my shop saying how he saw it cheaper at a hobby shop in Nashville .

My price on the model ? four dollars cheaper than my LHS .

And what’s $4 gonna buy him nowadays? Wow…

one or two bottles of paint, depending upon the brand
