Me262 battledamage question

Anyone know what color inside the wing would be on a German 262? Seems this fella took a couple cannon shots to the left wing and now I’ve gotta color the interior metal the appropriate color. My first guess would be aluminum.

Hey blunce,

Looking at some reference material on the 262 and it appears to be natural metal/aluminum. Then again in certain pix, it looks to be more of a grayish aluminum.

Now looking at a restored bird which seems to be left in its original glory, the inards look more aluminum plated w/ a flatish appearance.Of course with it being original, you have to consider weathering, the affects of the paint/metal over the years and what ever mantenence that took place and the like.

I would check out Squadrons “Walk Around” No.42 on the 262. I am sure there other fellas here who can help as well… Hope this helps.

Well I would say aluminum would be a pretty safe bet. There will of course be smoke and powder damage around the area so an alum. base should work fine I think. Thanks for the info!

Not a prob blunce, glad that I could be of some assistance… Post pix while under construction if you dont mind especially when finished.

Yer welcome!!

Check the info on Swanny’s site. Part 2 about half way down in the fuselage section.
