The 1:48 Meng Me-410B. A detailed kit that is a bit of a paint to build due to poor fit issues around the cockpit and canopy. I carried on and created the following diorama of this build:
Leo & Heinrich finishing up inspection of the #2 engine after replacing the one that was shot up from the last mission.
Airbrushed in Tamiya acrylics. White prop hub spinners had to be painted on. Decals for that were horrible. Overall, a nicely detailed kit but one that will task the limits of one’s patience.
If you get the Meng Kit (which I’d advise against) be prepared for 2 significant fit issues. The cockpit does not fit well and impedes upon proper mating of the fuselage halves. Also, the multi-piece canopy just doesn’t make any sense. It does not fit the model properly. That includes the forward glass display at the nose. If you want the aftermarket gear wells by Ares, forget it. It will not work with the Meng kit as the wing thickness behind the nacelle does not match that of the aftermarket part. Shaving the part down will do nothing more than eliminate all the detail inside of it.
Nice work on the camouflage and the spinners are on spot . Sounded like some trouble spots namely the canopy and gear bays would have made me cringe. Nice job on the overall completion and the dio is a plus. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve got the Ares resin aftermarket wheel wells for the Pro Modeler kit that I could not use with the Meng kit. They’re actually made for the ProModeler and thought I could work with them on the Meng, but apparently there is a wing thickness issues with Meng. Message me if you are interested.
Thanks fuzznoggin, but I’m an “Out of the Box” type of modeler. Since you have the wheel well set I can send you the ProModeler kit if you want to build another 410 kit.
