It seems as good as the Hobbyboss two seater 262/CS92 is, they both have the rear cockpit instrumentation of the B1a/u1 and no second control stick etc. Does anybody know of a good reference for the instructor’s cockpit? It seems no kit except maybe (?) the old 1/72 Smer gets it right but I can’t confirm this. It’s a pity having to cobble something together as even the instrument panel in the back is different from what little I know. Any and all help appreciated before I bother buying the CS-92 from HB. Pretty frustrating that it’s 2026 and no modern kit manufacturer has got it right or any aftermarket companies seem to have stepped in.

It says here you’ve been on these forums 17 years ago the last time - talk about taking a break! Welcome back!
When you start researching the Me-262, especially the two seaters, you quickly notice how little is known about them. Late war Luftwaffe was really a kind of a bloody circus, assemblying aircraft in forests while being bombed and trying to keep everything secret. And then after the war everybody fighting to steal as many documents as they can to help prepare for the cold war.
So if you have good drawings of what should be in the rear cockpit, nowadays you can do a little 3D design and print it and have correct parts - or if you don’t have the drawings don’t be wondering Hobbyboss didn’t have them either when they were designing the kit and just re-used the parts that they already had. Many modelling companies know they can get away with lots of science fiction and still earn money because the buyers either can’t verify their designs or they plain don’t care - or both.
I hate to be in that position as a modeller, when I know some detail is wrong, but the info on how it really was seems lost to history. But it leaves the modeller with two choices - not build the model at all, or build it consciuosly wrong - either by keeeping what’s in the kit, or trying to do the “best guess”.
