They are indeed compatible, but to be honest, there are cheaper track sets available for the Maultier if you’re just looking for a nice upgrade to the crappy Italeri vinyls.
Zokissima - wasn’t actually going to get those (I think they’re OOP anyway?), they were just the first ones that I had seen that indicated that Maultier/Pz.I were compatible.
KFS - great build! That’s exactly how I want mine to turn out! [:P]
I’m going to look into the Masterbox tracks…also wondering if I have some spare Magic Tracks (or Tristar’s, for that matter) kicking around.
Eric, the first ones that came to my mind were the MasterBox ones. They’re a great product, and can be found on eBay for reasonable prices, given patience [:)]
A few years ago when I was intending to build a Maultier, I came across them.
You need two sprues with tracks from MB for each vehicle.
About availability- in my opinion tracks were more popular than vehicles (due to their poor quality, for example), so tracks are sold out but kits still in stock.
Quick question: I noticed in many (but by no means all) of the action shots of panzer I’s and Opel maultiers that the track direction is with the grousers lagging but on the panzer II and up the track direction is always with the grousers leading. Did the Germans just happen to realize later on that the tracks worked better with the grousers leading? Just askin’.
Panzerjager - NICE! Thanks to Pvt.Mutt, I’ve got a set of DML Magic Tracks from the Pz.I in my possession…when I first opened the bag, I thought there was only one side worth - then I realized that they are REALLY REALLY SMALL. Heh.
