have you built these kits?..
one seater…or the two seater with Saudi Markings
fit, raised ressesed lines, cokpit details?
alternative on BAC Lightning in 1/72…Airfix one is rather poor from what I have seen.
any comments appreciated thanks

I built the Matchbox RAF F.6 version several years ago.
It has very comprehensive panel line detail which is all raised and will take a long time to rescribe if you want to capture it all in recessed lines (worth the effort actually).
The cockpit is typically Matchbox, the seat and not much else.
The matchbox Lightning kits are the best out there of this aircraft in 1/72 and I belive there is some aftermarket out there for them.
I’ll agree with you about the Airfix F.3 kit, it is poor. MPC did an F.1/F.3 kit which wasn’t much better.
Hasegawa made an F.6 in the mid 80s, but its a waste of money, as I understand, its old Frog moldings. I’m told that Revell Germany’s F.6 kit that is currently on the market also comes from those same Frog molds, but I don’t know if thats true.
The old Matchbox kits need work, but I have seen them turned into show winners.
thanks…
if else it worths the exotic variation…
Wow I have this kit under my bed in the 74 SQD , I’m a bit unsure about the decals on this being a very old kit , but i might give it a whirl soon
thats a mean signature sean…![]()
Seriously now I hope that the decals still work.
it sells about 14 pounds= 20 euros at the LHS.
also It would be a pity to discover that the list of my unbuilds will end up with unused decals…
gotta make rich the aftermarket or just buy a similar kit and use the alternative offer…
I think i got this for 6 pounds , the decals look a bit naff though i might see if there s some after market ones , the rest of the kit i’ll do OOB
Modeldecal did at one time make a sheet of decals that included 56 Sqn markings for F.1, F.3 and F.6 Lightnings in that unit’s service.
If I recall correctly, typical of Modeldecal, they didn’t include roundels or serial codes on that sheet.
