Masterbox Models Cafe Gals

I picked these up a few years ago and got a little work done on them. Then I found the watermelon paperweight at a gift shop on vacation/holiday and it gave me an idea for the theme. They’re great little figures with a sharp detail. Only real quibble from me is they look more 1/32nd than 1/35th.

Nice uh, watermelons. [:P]

But seriously, what applications do Goth Loli Girls have in “armor scale”? It’s unique out of the box thinking, but really? Maybe 1/24 (car scale) would be more useful.

MB should follow up with Cosplay Girls and Ganguro Girls. Don’t Google the second one unless you want to have neon nightmares.

OMG, I have become that oddball poster guy on SSM! At least I didn’t provide links. Lucky you guys.

Um thanks Real G!

I’m not sure what use they have either. I bought them and then they sat around since I had no idea what to do with them. Something like 1/24th car scale would make a lot more sense.

Masterbox does another set- Kawaii fashion Leaders that I didn’t pick up. They’re even more whacky.

Plus as I said above, the scale is off. They’re 1/35th if they were based off a 6 ft/ 1.8 m figure. Where I suppose there are Japanese women that tall it’s kinda odd. And they’re scaled with proportions more like they’re a more normal 5’3" / 160cm height.

And please- love your oddball posts. They add a little spice to a sometimes staid forum.

Hmmm, there are 1/32 “Deco-Tora” kits that the girls could be used with If you Google “Deco-Tora“, wear suitable sunglasses to avoid eye injury.

Although I am of Japanese ancestry, I sometimes don’t get their culture. Like the gaudy trucks, cars, and bikes… and Ganguro Girls!

Gamera, glad you enjoy my quirks, but I’ll try to keep my posts focused on weird models, not bizarre cultural anomalies. Pinkie promise!

You broke their watermelon crate! Meanie.

Interesting project. I’m always impressed by figure painting. I just can’t figure it out, myself.

Greg;

That’s why I occassionaly do a figure or two .It’s like riding a bike though .Once you’ve sucessfully done one it comes back very easily. Now I have the American Pinup series and believe me Masterbox hit the nail on the head ! They are well molded ( almost to well molded ) on the detail , but aren’t garish .

Real G: Ohhhhhhhh, love those Deco-Tora trucks. I’ve never heard of them before this, thanks for the introduction. I love a lot of Japanese stuff but some of it just confuses me!

Greg: They’re not hard to do. There’s a boatload of figure painting videos on YouTube. I wish they’d been around when I started.

One of the nice things esp with metal figures is if you really don’t like the way the paint is coming out you can dunk them in a bottle of something like Simple Green overnight and then scrub the paint off with a toothbrush and start over from scratch.

TB: I hope some day soon you’re able to post photos. I’d love to see how they come out.

Gamera;

They are not done to the assembly stage yet .I will post pictures when I get there . T B
