What wire do I use for wiring on the mast for my 1/350 USS Indianapolis build

I’ve used the following:

  1. Uni Caenis fly tying line. Very thin, knots well and comes in dark gray.

  2. EZ line. Elastic, knots well, easy to make taut. It’s flat, not round and can be spilt into thinner strands. Lately I’ve been noticing that it has started to fall apart on some of my older models.

  3. Stretched sprue. With practice, this can be effective. Obviously it doesn’t knot, but it glues well. It is hard to get consistent longer pieces, but works well for shorter lengths and is great for whip antennas, which your Indie will have plenty of.

GM, on your older models with the EZ. How old are the builds where it is starting to fall apart. And what is the manner in which it does so?

Less than 5 years. Also, my spool fused itself together.

Well;

On this subject there are many opinions .I have used E-Z Line and like " G " it’s done not nice things .I went to some very fine electrical wire like that found in defunct computer and phone devices .Thinner than a hair sometimes .Works great .Does not dry out , break or otherwise stretch .

Example .I found some earbuds and their wire lying in the street . The wire worked out perfect for even 1/700 scale ships . There you have it . T.B.

I use that stuff too. You can get it in a couple of sizes. Only thing is, the five mil stuff is extremely hard to see. I have a piece of white foamcore that I use as a backdrop behind the model when I use black 5 mil, a black piece I use for white.

ive been using high “e” electric guitar strings… ive been happy. its plentiful / cheal and respons well to gator grip. on stuff this small i find it easy and good looking

Well , it’s something that can happen with a new product .I mean how long can you run tests on something before putting it out for sale ? I have thought about marketing my slip on hand Balls for drill bits .How many and what size ? Fuggidabhoudit ! ! !
