I just have had some trouble with masking. I would like some recommendations on what companies that are good to high quality on canopies and wheels? Wahooman
www.squadron.com carries eduard and a few others. eduard’s are generally the best and easiest to use.

I would have to say Eduard Express Mask hands down.
Roy
Tamiya masking tape and some time to mask it right.
That is what I do.
I have used both the Eduard and Cutting Edge EZ Masks and IMHO the Cutting Edge Masks are the best. Meteor Productions have the Cutting Edge Masks so check there if your interested.
Never tried the Cutting Edge EZ masks, I may have to try them. So, what about them is better?
Roy
They are the low tack black vinyl masks and are precut to fit. You can also buy a whole sheet for cutting your own masks. The great thing about them is you can leave them on for weeks and pull them off without leaving a lot of adhesive residue behind Clean up is easy. Some Eduard masks require you use the Microfilm Mask from Microscale which is not required for the Cutting Edge Masks. They also do not pull paint off when removed.
Sounds even better. I live by the motto, “Work smarter not harder”
Thanks,
Roy
I am gonna jumb on the Eduard ad wagon here. Yes it is true that a few leave a gap that they suggest filling with liquid mask, butt hat is just becuase it is usually a tight compound curve and the full mask would buckle. I fill that gap with small bits of tape cut from the scrap of the mask sheet.
But these are like potato chips (crisps for our other side of the pond friends[:D]) once oyu use one you will wnat to again and again. Now-a-days when I buy a kit I iwll get the mask at the smae time and just stick in the box for when it gets to the top of the pile.
I use tamiya masking tape and bmf.
Ditto on the Eduard masks. I use them whenever possible. I use Monokote trim sheets for the rest of the masking tasks. It’s cheaper than BMF and the adhesive is a bit stronger but still doesn’t leave any residues.
I’ve always used E-Z Masks out of Canada for all my wingy things. They have worked every time so I haven’t found the need to try anything else.
You can check them out @ http://www.ezmasks.com/index.html
I’ve never tried eduard but tamiya is great! also try going to an arts and craft store (like Michaels) and ask for low tack masking tape. You’d be amazed on thier selection.
oh yeah also try frisket paper, you can cut it to any shape and size and boy does it save time. but be careful cause it can sometime leave a residue ( dont panick just wipe away with baby wipe LIGHTLY)[2c]
Im not big on spending more on fiddly bits than on the kit itself. So, I use a hybrid of Tamiya-type tape or BMF to edge the canopy frames and then apply liquid mask to the remainder. It saves time and money.
Eduard masks every time where I can get them.
Failing that Tamiya tape.
I tried the old Eduard vinyl masks are these were useless on compound curves almost as soon as you’d applied them.
