I am experiencing poor results using masking fluid, usually making sure the bits I want masked are covered, has anyone got any good tips on the use of masking fluids and which is the fluid of choice???
I have had bad luck also. If I get the stuff on thick enough, then I find residue when I take it off. In fact, I have a hard time getting it off, irrespective of the gunk it leaves.
Never had an issue with Maskol thick or thin, love the stuff.

I’ve tried the stuff a few times, but found it impossible to get a nice clean edge on it - I only use it for infill now on bizarre shapes were regular methods won’t work so well.
Not sure if I am not putting it on thick enough, I dont seem to be able to tell where it has been applied then you seem to be forever cleaning the brushes.

I never had any kind of success with masking fluids.
Add a 30% of Elmer’s glue to the masking fluid and your problems will be over.
What does the white glue do

I am the same as Milairjunkie. I now only use it to infill especially on pre cut masking sets where they tell you to use fluid. I could never get the hang of using it on its own.
I use it mainly in a situation where I need to mask an irregular shapewith sharp curves/angles and masking tape wont work. I also use it on small windows, especially round ones, where you have to install the windows before you seal the kit up. Prepainting is not always an option.
Hi thanks for that - is Elmers glue just an ordinary PVA glue?
Be aware that certain masking fluids (eg. Maskol and Gunze’s Mr Mask Neo) aren’t acrylic friendly. If applied too heavily over an acrylic base, it may dissolve or lift it. If applying over acrylic, use light applications.
