Marder II with 50mm gun

Thought this was an interesting picture. I’d never seen a Marder with a 50mm gun before. Dragon probably has a kit of one on the way.

Interesting. Never seen that one before.

Thanks for sharing! [:)]

Wouldn’t be that tough to do a kit bash on it, would it?

Want some inspiration?

I smell Cyber Hobby. Never seen that before.

Wow, thanks for the links Roy. That is some masterful work there. I’ve got so many projects to do, I’ll probably wait to see if CH does one.

The real ones look like they were pretty much kitbashed in the field, as opposed to the 75mm ones in the background - they look much more professionally manufactured and painted.

The Pak 38 variants of “Marders” were all field-mod productions on turretless Pz II hulls vs. factory-produced Marders with the Pak 40. They are very neat subjects regardless and I was pretty sure CH would do one when DML released the standard Marder II but so far nothing has materialized and with the amount of time that has elapsed since it’s doubtful it ever will but you never know…

Allied&Axis #22 has a single page of photos that shows the comparison side-by-side of how there were different, pretty neat how the field-maintenance shops did the work.

Thanks for the info Bill. I agree they are neat subjects and it would be cool to see CH do one of them. Does your reference source state how many of the 50mm version were made?

Jeff

Doesn’t say how many, only that they were built by the troops of PzJgAbt 128 and were probably done some time in the fall of '43 when the unit was attached to the 23 PzDiv.
