What do I get if I buy Maquettes T-34/76 in model 1940 and 1941 configuration? Is it worth the money or is it plagued with major shortcomings??
Is the tracks link-by-link or rubber band type? Any interior and so on?
Acually the Maquette line of T-34’s is not bad. There is a little flash to clean up as some fit problems but if you have the time, Maquette models build up very impressively. They also have a impressive range of other soviet war machines.
Ohh and yes, indy tracks too.
I’ve got Maquette’s 1941 version. I haven’t built it yet, but it has a basic interior with engine compartment. Nylon mesh for engine screens, clear parts for the headlights and indy link tracks. It appears vastly superior to Tamiya’s old offering. I haven’t seen the Dragon versions, but most folks have a high opinion of them, but I don’t see anything wrong with the Maquette kit.[:)]
the dragon kit doesn’t have an engine compartment but it’s got a PICTURE of the engine to put under the PE grill. thought that was hilarious. this is the 41 model btw, i think the '40 has solid screens instead of PE.
Sure the tracks need a bit of work but the styles are well molded. F-models tracks are good as well.
Turret on the Marquette kits are good, hulls need etch to improve (but so does Dragon). The wheels sets they sell are always on my shelf…very good.
OOTB there OK, just add the Edward or Aber sets and your cooking for a (harder to make) but very good T-34
from Maquette i bought few years ago the Bison I ( panzer I + Sig 33 ) and actually still working on scratching all the superstructure and used the verlinden Sig 33
in my mind maquette is of the worst model manufacturers.
and now allan makes the bison I in plastic with excellent quality.
