Making Cockpit Switches

I seem to recall several days ago someone mentioning using spots of paint to resemble switches on his instrument panel. There is however a better way for the larger scales.

Take your completed control panel, and using a VERY fine drill, (the diameter of which will depend upon the wire to be used), drill right through from the front.

Take a very fine brush with a little aluminium paint and just dip the tip into the hole. The idea here is to leave a fine line around the edge of the hole.

Feed a piece of fairly stiff wire through the hole from the front, and secure on the back of the panel.

Trim the wire on the front to the correct length and bend to the required angle.

Voila! Instant switches, which can then be painted if required, or left bare. [:D]

Very good idea, Chris, I’ll have to try this sometime…

Regards, Dan

Hey, thanks for the idea!! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Great idea, but not very practical in my preferred scale or 1/72 (I’ll go blind and insane)! Maybe when i get the money/space to build a 1/32 plane! [:D]

Thanks for an addition to my quickly multiplying list of ideas!!!

You are a genius my good man

You’re welcome! [:D]

I want to see it. Please.
