Well, I wash brushing my teeth last night, and being the clutz I am, managed to knock over my sisters enormous makeup shelf in the bathroom. As I was picking it up, I noticed some of the tan and dark brown skin tone type powders looked like exactly the same thing as those “MIG pigments” I read about everywhere. They even have handy “duster brushes”! She wouldn’t Even notice a few jars going missing (yes Im a terrible brother!) So do you think they would work? Ill try later and post results.
Well most makeup has a shimmer to it because it has shiny pigments in it so i would think that useing this as a weathering substatute would be in my opinon a no. ive heard someone on here before say they make a non glimmer makeup with out the shinny pigment and that you could use that but i cant really remember.
Hmm aparently the stuff I wa susing was non glimmer, because it worked pretty well. It gave it a really nice dusty worn look especially over olive drab. I had a bit of trouble getting it to stay, but I think if you mix it with a few drops of liquid Ive heard that it makes pigments into a sludge almost and you can wipe off the extra once its dry.
Hi;Ian.
Its your ol pal rabbit, if it looks good try it, a schvitz of flat laquer, should ward off any sheen. If you can find any Max Factors Pan- cake* makeup is a good choice dead flat when applied, mix with H2o for streaky washes, blend w/a q/tip & clear on top. For powder a little mortar& pestel action is required, scrape some off, & grind in a glass bowl w/ a marble or some other hard smooth analogue. You might also try an art supply, for artist’s dry pigments

Let’s see, one chalk pastel: $1.00; Edge of#11 blade: no additional cost (amortized) Old wide brush: No cost since it’s used up; Clean take out condiment container: Free; A few seconds of scraping: free. Range of colors; unlimited with mixing.
I’d also be leery of using a product that may contain oils which couold go rancid.
but it’s notwhere near as pretty as the make-up. that tank is looking FABULOUS!
Haha, I guess Im just REALLY cheap, but point taken. I was always driven off by the idea that those little jars of MIG pigments are like 12 dollars, but I should have realized pastels were pretty cheap. Ill give them a try.
