Mailman only has small package today

I’m looking at the Western Egyptian Desert scheme

Sounds great! Considering the way you usually work, we shuold see pics NLT tomorrow afternoon, right?

Just like to hear the sound of those bells when I pull your leg!

We’ll all be looking for another great project from you.

OK, Swanny, you started it. I wasn’t going to say anything. I was going to be very professional today, but I received twenty of the newest Eduard frets, four decal sheets, and the new Morane-Saulnier N PROFIPAK kit from the Czech Republic today. Yes, Santa did indeed come early, because I got a followup email saying it wouldn’t all fit into one box and “the rest of the kits” would follow. No idea what that means, but the packing list includes their re-release of the Bf-108 in Foreign Colors and a WW I Hanriot In Italian Service and yet another Mirage. I did get their first four sheets from
Eduard’s new line of decals, including French and Isreali Mirages on one sheet, He-111’s on another sheet, and a sheet of four different types of British night fighters in 1/72 and an identical sheet in 1/48, the hook being that they were all flown by Czech pilots. There was an extra color fret just released for my Mirage C which I’ll never get around to building now, it appears, due to about five year’s worth of other commitments at the snail’s pace I build, but Lord that Mirage is beautiful to look at in the box. Got three gorgeous new frets for an AcMin Avenger, -1 I think, a stunning ZOOM set for a 1/48 Academy Mig 21, and another, equally beautiful, color ZOOM set for the Hasegawa A-7. And in 1/32, I got three frets for the newly tooled Hasegawa FW-190 A-5 and one for a 1/32 A-8. And an interesting product for Eduard, a color instrument panel, with all the levers and switches, for the Trumpeter Corsair 1A, if I remember correctly.
Now here’s the punchline: I don’t have a single kit – Not one! – that matches a any of the frets I got today. Or the decal sheets for that matter. But then, that’s not the point here anyway. Like I said, I was supposed to be professional about this and I just couldn’t keep my big fat gloating mouth shut. These frets, after they’ve served their true purpose, will still be freshly in the package and I can pull them out and admire them whenever I want. And the kits will get fairly reviewed, the ones I don’t have duplicates of, like the Mirage. Yep, they sent it twice, and when I informed them, they said to keep the extra one. Go figure.
Tom

I consider it a public service to be able to let other modelers release their good news. So Tom, you live in a hobby store?

No. If I lived in a hobby store, I’d have the kits that go with all the PE frets. It’s a job, and given the site we’re on right now, my employer as well as our virtual hosts here would prefer that I not name names, though, as long as I’m being unprofessional today, I 'd love to give somebody who monitors the site for our hosts a nice big IN YOUR FACE right now. But that would be unprofessional. Email me, if you’re really interested, and I’ll tell you what’s behind this windfall and the others. However, this is turning into a definite case of “Be careful what you wish for…”.
Tom
PS: I want that sheet of yours, and the Typhoon kit that it goes on.

I’m interested in that instrument panel Tom, do you have the part number from Eduard so I can look it up? I’ve been in the mood to finish my Corsair lately and it’s not too late to add some things to it…

Only windfall come my way was the Hobby Lobby half off sale… got a few kits there… of course my wife has “made” [;)] me buy about 17 kits in the last month and a half and I haven’t even finished the first one… (promotion at work = demotion in free time)

Tom:
The part number is 33 003 and it’s called “F4U-1 Corsair Dashboard for Trumpeter”. As I said, I wish I had a scanner. But it’s not a full fret as we’ve come to know them from Eduard. It is, just as it says, a “sandwich” type color dashboard, beautifully painted, with, instead of the film option, which the color frets offer, it has two different possible instrument panels, a couple of auxilliary panels, and only one backing with the instrument dials in color. And of course, a whole world of red and yellow and NM switches and pulls. It’s probably made to go perfectly with one of those great resin cockpits that have less than great instrument panels with them. It would be good used that way, or simply to make a better OOB cockpit.
Tom

hmmmm got to get back to buying kits again. man i got to.

nice haul both of you.

joe

hey Tom I’ll take the 3 PE frets for the Accurate Miniatures TBF Avenger since I have a Avenger kit I havent even started yet.

Hmmmm… Swanny’s mailman must have gotten lost again. I had a package arrive for me today with an AMT F-104, Monogram 1/48 P-39 and a set of 1/48 pilot figures. My stash is deffinitely getting larger. Now to get the three in the hangar built.
OH - Swanny, thanks for the tips on the Ohka. I will have to make mine as a model 11 vice the 22. I saw your build and hope that mine will be half as nice. (This is my first attempt at scratch building any part.)

Missile

I have a scanner, send it to me and I’ll get it RIGHT back to ya! [;)] sounds good though, will definitely need to look for that one… if just for the novelty of it…

Thanks!

Tom
