Magach 6B Gal w/ mine roller

Something else I’m doing while I have bench time and don’t want to paint, a project I’ve had all the components for and finally decided to dive in. I’m using a Takom M60 hull, an old Legends conversion for the -Gal and the Miniart KMT-5 mine roller along with eBay sourced tracks and parts from Academy and Dragon. I had to largely scratch the mine roller adapter as the one in the Academy Magach kit is largely fictional. I’ll also be needing to change the mine roller over to the KMT-4 the IDF used. I’m pretty sure I can use Academy parts to do that.

Nice scratch work on the adapter.

Thanks! Roller assemblies are together enough that I can now start adding details. Dark gray parts are Miniart, light gray are Meng and greenish tan is Academy.

I did the turret ERA tonight, lotsa fun. I used Academy, ESCI and Dragon parts to get what I wanted, then lightly textured the faces of all. the blocks with a thinned Mr Surfacer blend.

Turret is done. I may actually paint this, maybe even have it ready for Winterblitz. Stranger things have happened.

Gun tube is not clocked correctly but it’s just stuck in for pics. I’ll paint it separately, white first, then mask the stripe and paint color.

Something else I’m doing while I have bench time and don’t want to paint…

Your opening line really resonated with me, realising I really should spend a lot more time on the bench before pulling out the airbrush. Not only does it afford opportunity to introduce more detail and texture, sometimes we really just don’t want to paint! Of course building something else OOB almost always gets completed too quickly then we end up with more stuff to paint when we really don’t want to paint…

Anyway, this is a fascinating project! I look forward to seeing the rest of this build play out… Looks fantastic so far!

Thanks, really glad it resonated. Bench time has a way of telling us when painting can wait, even if the stash has other ideas. Appreciate the kind words and the interest — more to come!

It looks like someone else has already answered for me…
