I recently saw her in an episode of “Mr. Ed”. She did NOT age well. Sorry. Didn’t mean to deflate anyone’s “standing salute” to her… [:D]
The modern equivalent, survival vest, just doesn’t have the same ring to it does it?
So I propose that they are renamed ‘Tuvoks’ (okay, so I like Star Trek) but even today,
I’m not sure the scriptwriters could get away with her saying," Is that a sub atomic partical accelerator in your pocket , or are you just pleased to see me?"
Pete
there may be others but none will be the same. wow what a woman.
joe
ahh, somehow, naming a survival vest after a male vulcan just doesn’t do it for me. Granted, he’s an okay looking guy, but perhaps had you meant to call them T’Pol’s. Not that’s someone… I mean something I wouldn’t mind getting on my chest.
Just fun’in with you.

That T’Pol’s a real babe aint she??? Hubba Hubba!![:P][:P][:P]
As long as we are educating our younger forum members about the origin of the nomenclature, i.e. “Mae West”, the following quotations may be of interest.
A correction to one above; “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you happy to see me”.
When commented on by W.C. Fields who said “My goodness my dear what a lovely diamond you’re wearing”. She said. “Goodness had nothing to do with it”.
If memory serves me right both quotes are from the movie “The Bank Dick”. And before some one askes the obvious question, “DICK” was a common refference to a detective.
Mae West was one of the “natural” girls that kept our GIs at attention. There was Betty Grable, Lana Turner, Ava Gardener, and a few others. Anybody remember the artist that did the “pin-up” girls that were copied on many of the aircraft noses? Was it Varga, or Vargus, something like that? Anyone remember which one of the “girls” was called the “Sweater Girl”. Keep in mind that in those days all of the girls were “naturally” beautiful.
This could be an interesting, AND RELAVENT, topic. A history lesson in nose art and what inspired the troops. Then there was the Andrews sisters! rangerj
If the inflatable life vest had been invented today, would it be called the “Dolly Parton”?

[:p]That artist was Alberto Vargas. Like Mae West, we may never again see his equal:

Silverback,
Thank you for that web site. You just made my day. Vargas was indeed unique. He made an interesting contribution to the war effort. rangerj
You all knew I meant T’pol, I was just having a senior moment!
Pete
Rita Hayworth was the “Sweater Girl” I think.
And Betty Grable’s famouse swimsuite pin-up. Who knows how many pictures show guys patting her bottom for good luck.
