[:0] Doh!! Ok, I’m in! I got a 1/144 Justice Gundam. Do I have to paint the whole thing? These Bandai kits are pretty good - I don’t even need glue[:D] I got, like 4 differnet sets of Gundam paint markers![:p]
Do as much as you can or are willing to do. Glad to have you participate.
I am expecting to see quiet a few Gundam entries for this GB, not many will be as crazy as myself to do a larger scale robot with cockpit and 2 figures.
Don’t be shy and step up to the Plate.
Great time to try and attempt one of this funny things for the guys that never did one.
Most of those kits are military equipment anyway and most can fly too, so no fears there.
It will only take 24hrs and you can be back on your wingy thingies, etc.
Well since I got the official OK that the Wife and I will celebrate Valentine’s Day a week later, I’ll go in for the build with a 1/72 Dougram (masquerading as a Revell Robotech kit.). I’ll try to have my postings by Sunday night.
Glad to have you in. I think the only difference between the Takara and the Revell kit were some decals. The Soltic H8 ended up in a different colour though.
My kit will be bassically OOTB, except for the compulsory sensor improvements.
Need to take some pics for an Article, current one only shows how to create the new sensors nothing about installation/mods that need to be done.
Colour scheme will change too from the box-art.
Yellow will become gold as it should be, might change the blue to a dark-green too.
Anime is notorious for substituting colours on cels: Gold becomes yellow, metallic/silver becomes light gray(Dougram, etc).
Wow a group build that I ALREADY HAVE A KIT for. I’m in. I have a 1/170 Macross Factory Valkyrie. Most of the Macross stuff looks like airplanes but this one has two legs, two arms, head, body, feet, and hands. I’ve had it for some time and this is great motivation to build it. Thanks for putting on this Mad GB Model Museum.
I have no idea waht to do about painting it. I got the kit in a trade and it came with no instructions. After building several robot kits, I think I can stll put it together without too much trouble. I know the original Dougram is a kind of dark blue armor with white or silver for the arms, shins, ect. but I was thinking of some sort of camoflage scheme but I don’t know for what type of terrain -desert, forest, artic?
You can google for images of the original paint scheme an drawings, which will help with the assembly. Yeah, it was bassically 4 colours(Blue, Silver, Red and Grey).
Personally, I would go with an alien camouflage scheme, planning on doing a Mospeada Ride Armor in a reddish pink and light purplish armour scheme.
It is an SF Item so go wild and be creative.
If you need any help figuring out where parts go let me know, I got those instructions pretty much in my head.
Model Museum, your speed building tips would be greatly accepted. I’m more of a scheduling person rather than a technique person but good techniques in a good schedule is what’s needed. Here is my initial schedule. Let me know about any bad flaws (flawed plans are BAD). Post tips and we can combine them. Not trying to hyjack your idea, just trying to contribute.
Cut pieces of the sprue and clean them.
Assembly as follows:
Shoulders and upper arms
Backpack
Gun
Feet and thighs
Glue pieces into cockpit and waist
Glue head together
Assemble tires and skiing plates
Putty, sand, wash and set aside.
Start on both figures, cockpit and sensor replacement
While the figs are drying I will paint the kit in the overall colour(hand-paint), set aside.
Finish figures
Do detail painting on the Robot(gold, etc)
Next assemble robot body(with cockpit), limbs, etc followed by putty and sanding.
Paint, install new sensors and set aside for drying.
Work on base and make name plate.
Once dried final assembly and decal application.
This kit will be un-primed and handbrushed, not worried about drying time as I will pop the parts into the drying-booth for 30~40 minutes.
As you see from the word go I start working on sub-assemblies, this way I can work them assembly style, do one, next one, etc.
If I were you I would work on the hangar and the robot alternatingly. While one dries the other can get some attention.
Just the way I work, usually throw the Instructions out the window and follow my own sequence.
Good plan also. I’m a fan also of Sub-assemblies/Assembly line style building.
Tell more about your drying booth?
uh, hangar? Oh yeah that thing. You mean those aren’t just extra parts? Just kidding. Although I was seriously trying to convince myself that I didn’t need it [;)][:D]
Getting the 24hrs in is the tough part. My hours won’t be continous of that weekend but I swear to keep all construction time to within 24hrs and post by midnight, Sunday!
I know it’s about the robots and not about the badge, but after seeing the MRD badge in Aurora-7’s sig, I saw that it was definitely too wide. I changed it. Sorry about the trouble here are the two side by side.
1st one (too wide) 2nd one (better)
Wait a minute what am I saying, it is all about the badges [:p][;)][:D][:o)]
