I recently got an Imai 1/72 Destroid Spartan (the original boxing) at my local show. It was completely intact! Even the little tube of glue!
As I started building, I thought I might do some scratch-building details. Si I removed one of the missle bay doors.
Then I decided I didn’t want to fill it with missles, so I greebie-ed the interior a bit…
…Then I just went off the rails and decided to convert it into a construction mech.
The yellow pieces are from a dollar store front loader.
I’ve done a little more work and I think the subassemblies are ready for primer/filler/sane/repeat.
My idea at this point is to recast the mech to 1/48 scale and have a maintenance guy on a step ladder worked on the scratch-built bay.
Full disclosure: I know almost nothing about Macross. Honestly Im not that interested in shows/movies, but I do like some of the vehicles!
