Well, I got my donor M109 kit today to try and build a FAASV. If anyone has done it or has good reference links I’d appreciate it. I found a lot of good walk around photo’s and some demensions but it ain’t going t be easy, not for me at least.

Thanks for the info, I’ll check him out. I can’t see his pics from work so I’ll have to get a look at home tonight. I’m not sure if I’ll attempt the interior, at least not at first. If I can geet the upper hull removeable then who knows what the future holds since I have many interior shots.

Would it be possible for you to share your interior photos with me?

I scratch built one about 5 to 6 years ago and allways wanted to do an interior. I have made all the hatches so that they open.

I’ll have to check yours out at home, can’t see the site here at work. Did you make or find plans to use? I need to find something that shows the correct angles and measurements above the deck level.

Thank you for the links. The problem is this site. I can not copy and paste.

I did not have any plans when I scratch built it. I have not had a chance to check it against the link that Rob posted. But I think I will be very close to the measurements and angles. As far as I know the one that I built is a Canadian version.

That one works when I copy and pasted it, thanks. Excellent scratch building Ralph. I wonder how long there was a boom on the front or if that was just on non-US FAASV’s? The only battery I was in with the was in Germany from 87-89 and ours didn’t have the crane. I’ve seen a few photo’s with them also. We had to use our M578 to remove the racks. Your M548 is pretty nice as well. I wonder if anyone produces an M578 kit??

Oh!..edit. Found a deteail set thet must go with the Italeri M110 kit.

I used to have a fairly comprehensive walk around of the M578, but alas, they’ve been deleted by the webmaster at Armorama.

Looks sharp. As soon as I get some drawings to scale so I can figure out the dimensions of the built up area I’ll be starting mine. I think I have everthing I need now, just need to buy the styrene and get started.

Using MS Paint I was able to scale down some drawings I googled to close enough to 1/35 when they print out that I think they will work to make templates. If anyone wants them just shoot me a PM with your email.
