M985 HEMTT finally completed with pics

I finally completed my upgrade of Revell’s M977 to M985 a little while ago and found the time to take some pics. Here is the link to the WIP post from some time ago.

I scratched up 2 coolers and mounted them just aft of the driver’s door. Also there is the A/C unit that is added with the armor kit. Boiler plate was added as additional protection for the crewman manning the 40mm. The crane was upgraded with larger lifting cylinders, a heavy duty hook assembly, and scratched up brass tube and plastic outriggers. Spare tires were drilled out and added as cargo along with a scratched up welding set. The crewmen were built from various Dragon and Trumpeter figures and painted with the new digital green camo. The tires are a resin set from Tank Workshop via R&J Enterprises. The long stowage box on the lower right side was scratched up from sheet and Plastruct angle. The Eduard PE set is a must have for this kit and gives a complete interior as well as some exterior details, i.e. spare tire winch, rear mudflaps, windshield wipers, and some crane details. The entire cab was built from plastic sheet. Headlights and turn signals were from the parts box. The shelter was a kit from Italeri, detailed with tiedown rings and wire for the turnbuckle cables. It filled up the cargo area quite nicely as you can see in the pics. Here are the pics. As always, comments appreciated.

Stunning, absolutely stunning!

An absolute masterpiece! This is a top-award winner, no doubt.

The camo on the guys looks great–the only thing I would offer criticism on is the eyes on that driver figure–your “whites” should be a little smaller; the figure is a little “bug-eyed”. Judges will dock points on that, if that matters at all to ya.

Other than that, I’m very impressed! 10 out of 10!!!

Absolutely fantastic!!! Great job.

Very very nice, especially the Eotech on the drivers weapon.

Wow, this is nice. I really like the heavy look it has, and the tires look fantastic! Tie downs, hydraulic lines, and the other small details just push this one over the edge, thanks for sharing!

Wow, this one has been long in the making, and it shows. An absolutely stunning model. Every angle shot just screams attention to detail.

Absolutely gorgeous build, love the detail and the tires…cheers!

Modern stuff ain’t my gig,but that is truly badass!!!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. Trying to decide on my next project: 1/35 Revell 5t MAN, or a couple of those 1/72 Dragon AAV7 variants. Either way, I’ll post some pics as I go along. Thanks again for the comments.

Very nice indeed.[^] I especially like the tire weathering.

Simply amazing work. I see the Hemtt’s every day and this matches up to the real deal. I work in Oshkosh where they build the Hemtt.

Keep up the great work!

Awesome build man!

Nice finish and nice to see a different subject!

Thanks for kicking this back to the top White_R34!

I’d congratulate 036hir but I’m assuming he’s not on the forum anymore? Anyway fantastic work there!

Very nice work. Love the figures. Great details like the fuel stain or the oil stain under the exhaust.

Rounds Complete!!

Wow that’s a great build, very well painted and the weathering is very well restrained, really convincing.

Terry.
