The M925 shown below was completed as part of the Modern Armor GB. The truck bears the marking of one of my old ammo trucks. The truck is loaded with 105mm HE, Smoke and Illum.
The ammo trailer is still on the bench and will carry fuzes and 105mm WP.
Besides the kit, the main items I have added -
Ring mount
M2
PH details
Resin Tires
Front Chain
Items in the cab
And a lot of scratch ammo crates!! [banghead]
Here is the completed truck for your viewing and comment. Good or bad they are always appreciated.
heya redleg[:)]-- this is an excellent, classy, top notch job that I know required ALOT of specialized work---- [tup][tup]-- great job man–I hope you enjoyed building it as much as I do viewing it!!–first class!---------tread[8D]
[:)]All those wooden crates in the back must have taken a hell of a long time! Very nice camo on the truck. I especially like the dust on the winshield where the wiper doesn’t clean. Not to mention the dials in the truck. GREAT DETAIL.[tup]
Tread - Thanks, coming from you is always special. [bow]
MG - The crates were hell, 100+ crates, casting, painting, decals and banding, it was worse than any indy track set. [banghead] Thanks for your comments.
Looks great Redleg. I too am working on an M923A1 to pull my M198. I should have pics of both up tomorrow. I added quite a bit of detail to the M923A1 as well.
Hey, Redleg. If you don’t like the weather in Wisconsin, wait a day. It will change, usually for the worst. Heck we get thunder and lighting snow. Tornado’s all year long. I LOVE IT!!!. Couldn’t see living anywhere else.
Great Job on the M925. I followed your build on the crates. It would have drivin me totally bonkers. Opposed to slightly bonkers from my build. The balls and chains were fun. Yeah Right.
The dusting was my attempt to copy vehicles which get dusty in the field and then the morning dew which makes it a little muddy/runny.
Rather than just dust on dry, I mixed MIG earth and some earthtone pastel dust with turpinoid then I would let it run down. Similar to the dot method with oils only this with powder. I like this rather than heavy mud which covers a lot of the detail.
On areas like the hood I used less powder put let it puddle.
Moose - I followed your build and must admit I liked your balls [#dots] (Hummm that dosen’t sound right)…and chains [swg]. Really, Great detail job.
very cool Redleg those crates looks the business i really like the subtle difference in the shades you used to paint them they were well worth the effort the truck looks great too though i admit i know nothing about modern stuff, great all round job.
you executed it well, i especally like the windshild wipper effect, Shep Paine said he used like… a scotch tape mask for that effect, was that what you did?
The PE set for the M925 includes a mask set for the wiper effect. If I don’t have a mask, then yes, I create one with painters tape. Either way, you end up with the same effect.
Windows are always dirty (unless you just came from the wash rack or your sitting in the motor pool). I always show the wiper effect.
Thanks for viewing and asking.
Biffa, I’m humbled by a comment from someone of your talent. Thanks
sounds like a pretty well thought out PE kit, was it an Eduard or one of those higher end ones? my only experience has been Verlinen ive kinda lost interest in their brass kits, theyre nice that they include resin parts alongside… but
i dont know… i feel the instructions are no good and half the time i feel like im either missing parts or there was some magic second page of instructions that they forgot to put in. i end up just squinting at the cover art trying to match parts
Its the Eduard set. I tend to stick with them. Their instructions are usaully very complete. I have not tried any of the other guys since I am happy with Eduard and they have a very good selection.
I usually only use Verlindin for interior resin details.
