M88A2 HERCULES

Does anyone know of a supplies or company producing the current M88A2 HERCULES in 1/35 scale? I am trying to find a current issue kit that will fit with a armour display i am working on?

No kit OOB. The only M88 series is made by AFV Club. They do the M88A1 and M88. There are some resin conversions by AEF Designs and MR Modellbau (I think) to turn these into an M88A2.

Revell of Germany also reboxes the AFV Club M88A1 and adds a few Bundeswehr fittings and decals to the kit. Contrary to popular belief, everything needed to make a US vehicle is inside the box (except US decals), including tracks.

WHile we are on the subject of recovery vehicles, does anyone have any info on the M1 prototype armored recovery vehicle?

The only time I ever saw it was during Reforger 1988. It was being demonstrated/tested with a unit equipped with the Abrams. Once upon a time an old modeling magazine, Military Modeler, had an article about someone scratchbuilding one from the old Tamiya M1 Abrams kit. It was the late 80s or early 90s. I’ve still got the magazine somewhere.

Rob,

IF you happen to find the magazine would you please let me know what issue it is. I would like to try and find the article. Not sure I will try to tackle scratch building one but I might feel energetic.

Real Models makes a resin conversion and I’ve seen one listed for ADV/Azimut

MR Models makes a full interior kit as well

Challenge Publications’ Military Modeler July 1989. This magazine went under around 1996-97.

Rob,

Thanks for the info. That is a starting point for me.
