M60A1 in Vietnam?

I’m building my Vietnam AFV stash. Some sources say the M60A1 was shipped to Vietnam and others say it never saw action in Vietnam. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Im not sure if this is a M60, but looks like…

defintely a Vietnamo photo.

No, that is an M48A3. You can tell by the angular fenders, five return rollers, muzzle brake at the end of the barrel, the bore evacuator near the muzzle on the barrel, and the position and type of stowage bins on the fenders.

This is an M60A1.

A few M60A1s were sent to Vietnam to test them in the terrain. None saw actual combat though. Since the tank threat in Vietnam was practically none, all the M60s were reserved for use in Europe to defend against the Soviet hordes on the other side of the Iron Curtain. The M48A3 was plenty adequate for Vietnam.

Thanks. I wouldn’t buy an M60A1, then.
