M4A3 (105mm) Finished

My finished M4A3 (105mm) Sherman, this time I took a week as opposed to four days on the last one[:)]

It was pretty much OOB and I usually do German armor so Sherman purists, please don’t yell at me for all the inaccuracies!

Nice work, only thing I might caution you about is the FSM prohibition against posting items for sale in the forums…since the ebay link is for your own sale, that might cause an issue.

The rear tail light on the right side shouldn’t have any red lenses, only the top left side had a red lense, the bottom should be black on that side and the right side should be black on both top and bottom. It’s a common mistake, one that I’ve made myself before in fact. See this link for more info. http://members.aol.com/brimiljeep/WebPages/JeepNamePage.html#BlackOutLights

I’d also recommend doing something to paint or tint the twine you used as stowage tie-down rope, the white look seems out of place given the weathering of the vehicle and the items it’s supposed to be securing IMHO. I’m no Sherman expert either but one thing I can tell you is that the tracks on the Sherman family were “live” and fully tensioned, meaning no sag would be present. It looks as if you used the Tamiya one-piece tracks but they don’t rest evenly across the rollers for some reason?

I’d take that bit about the advert under advisement. The lense thing is true, easy fix. I think this is a great piece of work. The bags on the rear could use a little shading or something to liven them up a little more. Otherwise, you did a very nice job. I hope you find these suggestions helpful.[tup]

Thanks for the info, I just started doing the German blackout lights correctly last month…oh well, sounds easy enough to fix. As far as the tracks, if you don’t add at least a little sag they don’t fit cause they’re too long, something I didn’t realize until I had them painted and weathered. Next time, no kit tracks!

Nice job Hermesminiatures! I like the faded, weathered look of this Sherman. How did you do it?

I know that you’ve meant this to be an easy & quick build but something you might want to do with your next sherman is to watch out about the commander’s cupola vision blocks – the commander’s would have kept them assiduously clean. HTH

Looks awesome! I love everything about it!
