m1a2 OIF painting

I just bought Tamiya’s m1a2 abrams and I intend to paint it in the desert scheme…I was wondering if anyone here could reccomend the best acrylic brand/color/color mix to use. Tamiya suggests ts46 light sand, but that is a spray can color and I hate spray cans (I have an airbrush).
Although I do prefer Tamiya paints, I have used Testors acryl and Polly S.

thanks

Welcome to FSM, donnico1.

As for me I have used Tamiya Dark Yellow acrylic paint with good results.

Good luck.

ModelMaster Desert Sand is a good color for OIF vehicles.

I think Dwight and Kaleu have already said it.

I am just working on my M1 as well. I was going to use tamiya acrylics, but decided against it. Model Master Acryl would give you the best match (and they are acrylics as well). There is, as kaleu suggested, desert sand, but even better, they actually manufacture an exact colour match: Marines Gulf sand, or something like that. It’s an exact colour match to the desert paint used by the US. I’ve used that, and it looks absolutely great.

I see testors makes “armor sand” and “US gulf armor sand”…I assume gulf armor sand is the best match?

Thanks for the replies
