M151A2 Finished Dio

Here is the little guy’s new home. This is the first time I have tried to come up with a detailed dio. Everything is scratch built, except the rocks. The base is done with Sculpey clay pressed it out and put in all the contours, tread marks, footprints and foxhole then baked it. The palm tree was done with the same stuff as were all the sand bags and bed roll in the back of the GP. The roof of the fox hole is balsa wood. I really enjoyed this little project and am ready to move on to bigger things, my eyes could use one for sure. Thanks for the palm tree tips, hope it looks right. Hope you enjoy the pics and if you see anything that could be done better let me know, except the glue under the clay saw it in the pics and took care of it.

Nice job ont the weathering Chris. Is this the model you were referring to in the armor forum needing help with pastels?Neat little scene. Hope to see more.

Thanks, yea this is the one that I was haveing the pastel problem with, but with some help I think I got it right.

Great job, Chris. All of the time and effort sure paid off. I really like the mud effects on the base. Very realistic.

Great finish! I like it a lot. Sculpey is a really cool product! Keep up the good work, Chris.

Looks real nice Chris.
Is the wood base pre-fab or did you make it?

Yes the wood base is pre fab I just finished it, can’t say that I am any good with wood working really. Thanks for all the compliments. Can’t say there is much time in it though , I started the base on Sun afternoon and finished Tues night. I worked and fought fire in that time to, it just all came together right.

That jeep is much at home in your dio chris. Nice work.

Great job! I love the scene you’ve created. The foxhole is a nice touch, well done!

I actually had originally planned to have a mortar crater with the palm tree blown over next to it, but somehow it got turned into a foxhole. Not real sure how I got deverted but I think it looks better this way.

Looks good. Nice job on the whole project.

Mike

looks good overall. you can put a little elmers glue (any white glue) and sprinkle some real sand on there to give the mud more texture so it isnt milkshake smooth

thanks for sharing,

Thats sounds great muzzleflash, I was trying to figure something out to get some texture on the mud but did’nt want to mess it up in the process. Thanks for the idea.

hey cris, just stoped in to check out your dio, really neat. i like it alot, did you spend any time in the service? i was in the 101st for 3 years so the sceen kind of brings back memories of being in the field for 30 days and all you had was the jeep and the fox hole, really neat.

Nice!Nice!

Thanks for the compliments all.
Dave- I can’t say that I ever did any time in the military. I have always enjoyed reading about the military and supporting them any way I could though. The recruiters tried thier stuff on me at the wrong time I guess and now wished I had though.
