Several weeks ago I asked some info about the old Italeri M-108 sp.
That problem was solved !
Now, in one of the answers Redleg12 told me that the 42nd Division National Guard ( 1st -258th Artillery ) used the old M115 howitzer untill the early eightes.
For some weeks now I’ve tried to get some info about this unit, but NO luck !!
I must have tried whatever combination of words to search the Internet !!
Can someone conform OR deny the fact that the old M115 howitser was used untill the early eightes.

My suggestion would be to look up old US Army “order of battle”. In the 1980s were were moving to an organization called Division 86. While an order of battle for a Division 86 unit would most likely tell you what that unit was supposed to have, when it comes down to a National Guard unit, they probably had hand-me-downs from the active army.

The suggestion you made did not have any succes, but on the other modelling site ( Armorama ) i put the same question and two members came up with some answers !!

The 42 ID and the 1/258 do not have a really good site as far as showing historical information. The 1/258 FA was the General Support Battalion to the 42 ID. Their MTOE called for M110 SP Howitzer, but through the late 70s into the 80s they had two batteries of M110 and one battery of the M115 towed. With the Regan buildup they eventually recieved the rest of the M110. Prior to that (1960s and early 70s) they were all M115 towed. During WWII they were equiped with M12 155mm gun. Not sure when they made the transition to M115 towed…sometime in the 1950s
Nonetheless, there is very little in the way of photos and “offical” information. I will look through the US Army Field Artillery Assn archives.
