I’m pretty sure one thing they’ll remember is the wine rack, so maybe scratch build that. Other than that, you’re probably right. The M109 and A1 were without radios, just intercom and I see the same on the interior kit. There were no powder cannisters stowed behind the driver on the floor of the M109, nor was there the treadplate for the gunner over the traversing mechanism. Also, there were some little half bulkheads in the sponsons for green bag cannisters (1/4 inche black pads on them), with web straps to hold them. It looks like they have only white bag cans in the kit. Also, aside from the lack of plumbing, the gunner and AG hand controls ran parallel to the centerline of the turret (if I remember correctly). The kit also lacks the manual elevation handcrank, but nobody but a red leg would notice that. Otherwise, it looks super!
I have an original M109 manual, so feel free to ask questions about details.
Thank you Ron, I would appreciate your first-hand knowledge when I get the models purchased. There will be an M109 model, an AFV M109A2 model and the Black Dog interior kit. Like you said some interior items may need to be scratch built.
Firstly, the photo has to be hosted somewhere on the web like Photobucket, fotki, etc… Once it is hosted, open the photo on the hosting site and copy its web address: http://www…jpg
Now go here and open a “Reply”. In the bottom bar across the top of the reply box is a button with a mountain and sun on it. This is the “insert/edit image” button. Click it and you will get an “Edit image” pop-up window that shows you were to paste the copied web address (source box). Paste and hit OK and the pic should show in your post.
Hi Gino, I have tried this several times and all I ever get when I past is the web link to my picture on the hosting site - Flickr (like the link above). However, I’ve always used an iPad and the other day I read something on this forum about a differance in the way pictures are posted if you use a smart phone or tablet compared with windows computers?
I think it has more to do with Flickr (but I always use a laptop). There is a special way you have to copy the link from Flickr. I don’t know what it is as I can’t get any pics to work from Flickr either. I have no issues with Photobucket. You do have to pay for Photobucket though; about $50/yr. To me it is worth it.
GMorrison and Gino, I forgot that I had a Photobucket account from several years ago. Look what I found in my library, it’s a picture of two architect friends that I took fly fishing on the Metolius River in central Oregon. That trout is a seven-pound rainbow and needless to say my friends were very impressed with the fishing.
You need to have the “…jpg” link to the flikr image to post in the image link.
Also, Kalmbach seems to have some internal filters on what content it allows “through” as image links (which appears to be the major hurdle with Google Photos). But, it looks like their firewall has some blanket blacklist settings which will bar stuff from a number of sites.
After being very Pi$$ed off about Photobucket’s decision to ransom photos, I tried Flickr and am content with it. So far, as a free image hosting site, it’s been just fine for me.
I wrote a little tutorial about a year ago for someone on FineScale. I’m not sure if it helped him or not. However, here’s the link to my little screen shot tutorial in the Testing Forum:
Mike, I greatly appreciate your tutorial and will give it a go… I also noticed we live about 50 miles from each other and I find that extremely interesting since many FSM members live thousands of miles away.
We share a common interest in nature photography although mine was before digital cameras and most of my field work was associated with fly fishing and cross-country skiing. I have downgraded to a Canon EOS 60D after years of using a Canon EOS 1N 35mm SLR Camera.
I now realize that my tutorial may not be much good for those of you who post using a smart phone or who use a Mac. I did the tutorial based on what I use … a Windows 10 desktop. Nonetheless, it may help somebody.
If anyone is interested in the Italeri kit, there’s one on eBay today starting at $14.95 + $20 shipping from Canada, listed as new. Look for listings by:
Additional note: I have tried every way I know to post images from Flickr.com with my iPad and could not make it work. But it is very straight forward using a lap top with Windows 10 and Mike’s instructions.
Hi All, been away for a while here. I’ll try Flikr or however that’s spelled, but on other sites I participate in, one can load from the desktop. Maybe they should think of making that an option here. It’s certainly MUCH easier. Cheers! Ron
My thought as to why FineScale doesn’t allow direct posting of pictures from one’s computer is that the volume would require more or larger capacity servers. Just guessing of course.
Just reading the post. On Flickr just go to ‘share’ copy the BB code and paste it in the text. Forget that little window above that says ‘insert/edit image’
