I started the other Takom Sherman. Purchased after market tracks, they don’t work. They are to small, Takom made the track wide. It took me two days to finish one side, these tracks are brutal. It’s going to take me a long time to finish this tank. I have Takom’s Supper tanks on order, can’t wait to see the tracks for them. There’s 2 sets of tracks per tank.

I have always loved the look of the Super Shermans,one piece rubber band tracks don’t bother me do much on live track tanks like Shermans.That’s what I did when I built the Tamiya version a few years ago.

Nice, Takom needs to redesign there tracks. Building there tracks are brutal, i never spent two days just on tracks. I will have to look up Tamiya’s Supper Sherman

Those tracks that you bought are wrong for this version, but are correct for sherman tanks with the original VVS suspension. The version you are building has the HVSS suspension. Here is a little background on these types, (taken from google)

VVS (Vertical Volute Spring Suspension): Standard on early and mid-war Shermans. It featured vertically stacked springs and narrower tracks. While highly reliable and easy to produce, it offered limited wheel travel (resulting in a rougher ride) and the tank could easily bog down in soft mud.

HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension): Introduced late in the war as a massive upgrade. It mounted the springs horizontally and featured wider tracks, which reduced the tank’s ground pressure, prevented it from sinking in mud, and improved off-road handling. It also incorporated shock absorbers, providing a much smoother ride for the crew

Very interesting information, thank you. I realized that the after market tracks were wrong when i seen the with of the sprockets.
