M1 Abrams "Laze-n-Blaze" Canadian Army Trophy 1987

Hey guys.

Before starting my new project and in between cleaning up the desk, I’ve indulged in a little more modeling nostalgia–this is an old ESCI M1 Abrams. This is one of the original Abrams portrayed as it was during the “CAT”–Canadian Army Trophy trials in 1987. The “cat” motif was popular to paint on the tanks, for obvious reasons. Painting is with Tamiya paints, and weathered similarly to my Leopards. A nice little kit that was a blast o build and finish in a few days. Enjoy! [:)]

Did I mention that it was 1/72 scale?!

You can still get this kit on eBay for around $15.00. I just scored an M60A2–rare for “Braille Scale”. Should be fun to relive that build too. [:)] Thanks for looking in!!! [:D]

Karl, that looks like it just rolled off the range at Graf. You nailed the weathering on the side skirts. Well done! T. Ellis.

1/72nd scale?

…walks away grumbling whilst grabbing handfuls of paint bottles and brushes and throwing them towards the trash can…[:'(]

amazing work [B]

Dude! I mean, Doog! Wow! That looks killer!! The 72nd scale reveal blew my mind!

Thanks, T.Ellis! I appreciate you calling that out–I spent some time getting that right! [:)][Y]

lol, thanks, Axeman–that actually made me laugh out loud! [:D]

hanks too, Jetmaker! A little “little” tank every now and then is good for the modeling soul! [;)]

Very cool, I’ve have sworn she was 1/35th till you pointed out the real scale. I love the weathering and grime on the skirts.

Thanks, Cliff! I got that idea from a suggestion that my friend Adam made to me about skirts that I had on my Jgdpz IV A-0 that I did here. It worked splendidly there, and I figured it wold look cool here too.

Nifty! If you hadn’t posed it by the paint jar I would’ve called bs on it being 1/72nd…

There are members on this forum that just ooze talent. Be honest Doog. You accidentally sneezed on the sprues and this is what resulted. Really nice! knox

lol, thanks Russ, and knox! Much appreciated!!!

Oh wow! I made this kit about three times back when it was new lol. I loved that kit! I love what you’ve done with it Karl!
