Hello All,
Getting ready to finish up an Academy M-51 and have a question about paint.
There is nothing in the instructions about painting the headlight / tail light guards, lifting rings or tool brackets. However on the box, they show them painted red. Can anyone verify if this is correct or give me any information concerning this? Thanks to any and all who might be of assistance.
Joe
Theres a web site I looked at when doing mine. I think its called israeli-weapons. Under “weapons” they have a M-51 shermn section with pics. Hope that helps.
There are times that the pioneer tools as well as the tow cable ends, tow pintles, and any cable hooks on Israeli vehicles will be painted red. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Some have it, some don’t. There was actually an awful lot of leeway for Israeli units in those days from all of the pics that I have seen.
Feel free to paint them red if you want to. Or, if you don’t want to, don’t. Either is correct.
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the answers.
Being lazy, think I’ll pass on painting them red.
Joe
Actually about 90% of all the vehicles I have seen photos of that are Israeli with the red painting are in the Latrun museum. Very, very few pics of service vehicles with it. You are probably better off being lazy ! lol
Hi Scorn,
Thanks. You just made my day. I do lazy very well[:D]
