M-40 SPG

I have been working on the M40 from Tamiya. Really nice kit!

Some construction shots.

Painting so far…

More to come and thanks for looking.

Looks like it is coming along pretty well. Any idea how it compares to the AFV Club kit of the same vehicle? I have built two of the AFV Club M40s (one M40 and one converted into an 8" M43). The AFV Club ones were very detailed and come out looking great.

It sure is a lot easier to build. To me it is just as detailed with a lot less work. At least so far. IMO

She looks fantastic!

I too have an AFV Club M40 that I’ve been working with off and on for the last five or so years… [:$]

I finally found and ordered the Hobbyfan sets of figures that go with the SPG so hopefully that will spur me into finishing the darn thing.

BTW: Did you get anymore done on your Star Wars Old Republic walker?

My father served on the M40 GMC 1950- 1954.

I have the AFV kit and tracks but have not started it yet. This looks great so far.

Coming along really nice T.

The modulation and weathering looks great.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Nice work on that paint job, the modulation is very well done, nice artistic finish.

You really do have a nice deft touch to your work.

Great looking build. Tamiya has gotten into the habit of releasing pretty nice versions of kits that other companies have released nice versions themselves. Tamiya’s tend to be simpler, but just as detailed.

Back in the 90s and 2000s, folks would always grab the ancient Tamiya kit over another companies’ superior more recent kit and then promptly complain about it. Today, Tamiya’s new kit is normally the way to go.

MrT is well on the way of hitting another one out of the park.

Kudos, kudos.

Thanks!

Thank you!

Thanks!

Thanks!

Rear deck, cable, and chains. It was hard to keep the cable tight.

Ooh, another MrT build. Excellent!! Your Easy Eight was one of the builds I followed that I revisited several times. Just a beautiful job on that one. This looks like it will be at least as well done. Your painting technique really brings out the detail, and it is quite fun to watch the process.

Thanks for sharing,

D

I hope you will enjoy this one also.

Thanks!

Love the ground in dirty look on the spade and rear deck plate. [Y]
