M-36 Jackson B1 in WW 2

Hi! I am working on the 1/35 Academy M-36 and the kit is great. The kit gives an option with the hull machine version(M-36B1) and I really like it but the decals for it are for post war. Now, my question is: Did the M-35B1 ever served in WWII? Also, the tracks given by Academy looks like the tracks for M-3 Lee while I have see some M-36 photos that shows the M-36 used M-4A3 tracks(same as Tamiya’s M4A3). Can anyone give me some information? Thanks!

Anthony - First off, got your variants a little twisted here.
The B1 variant was simply and M4A3 Sherman with the turret from the M36.
The B2 variant is the M36 with a hull machine gun and to the best of my knowledge it never served in W.W.II but was used post war.
The tracks that come with the kit are the T-51 Rubber Block style Sherman track and were used on this vehicle. The surviving Aberdeen M36 has these type of tracks on it.
Just a quick scan of some pics I have also show the T-48 Rubber Chevron style and the T54 Steel Chevron style both being used also.

Ahh! Sherm comes through again. I think we should just start our post Hey sherm lol. It is a joy having your knowledge here sherm.

Thanks Robert. You always save the day[:D]!! I think I’ll do the M-36 B1 version. It’s better to stick with historical accuracy.

You can’t do the B1 variant with that kit Anthony. But you can do a straight M36.

Thanks again for clearing that up Robert. I’ll do the M-36 then.
