I recently saw a picture of the M-15 Trailer being used in Vietnam. Can anyone confirm that they were used? What pulled them in Vietnam (I’m guessing the 5-Ton rigs). Also, if some one has any info about it (other than me buying the Dragon Wagon). I wouldn’t mind scratchbuilding one (I’m cheap that way)
Grizz
The version of the M15 trailer used in Vietnam was the M15A1. It was strengthened and widened to allow it to carry up to 55 tons. It was pulled by a 10-ton Mack M123A1C tractor. There is an M15A1 and M123A1C made in resin by Tank Workshop, but they are really expensive. I made one by converting the Tamiya M15 Dragon Wagon trailer and scratched most of the M123A1C tractor using parts from the Italeri M925, an old Renwal/Revell 5-ton wrecker, the AFV Club M35, and wheels from a 1/24 scale truck. It was a pretty big project, but paid off in the end…
It won the Director’s Choice Award at TamiyaCon IX in 2004.
