Lysander part question

So, what is this suppose to be in real life? The film, is a clear cut out w/ nothing on it. Does it get gued on flat? Bend an edge on it and gue the edge or what???

Normally those parts are part of the gun sight. But given its position i would say a rear view mirror. But seems odd to be a clear part.

My mistake, i thought it was on top of the canopy, but its not. It is the gun sight, just attach with white glue and leave flat.

Ahhh. Tks Bish… You beat me to it. I was going to look some more after striking out earlier. I didn’t know these planes had forward guns. Or maybe I should say, at least the version I’m doing - night mission insertion-extraction. need to do more homework on that one. Where did you find the picture ?

thanks. Wm.

That is a reflex sight. If the plane did not have guns, maybe it was adjusted for supply drop, like a bomb sight.

I just googled Lysander cockpit.

Remember, this thing was originally designed as a ground liason/support aircraft.

Armament: Four 7.7 mm (0.303 in) Browning machine-guns. One in each wheel spat with 500 rounds per gun and two on a trainable mount in the rear cockpit) plus up to 500 lbs (227 kg) of bombs on stub wing attached to the wheel spats. Special Duty (SD) aircraft usually had the rear cockpit machine-guns removed. In May, 1940, as the German attack began, No. 4 Squadron moved to Belgium, but such was the fury of the onslaught that 11 Lysanders were lost between 10 and 23 May, some being eliminated on the ground. One of the squadron’s Lysander crews destroyed a Bf 110 during a running battle with six Messerschmitts and managed to return to base. On 22 May an aircraft of No. II Squadron, flown by Flight Officer Doidge shot down a Henschel Hs 126 while his rear-gunner accounted for a Ju 87 Stuka.

Tks jack. I have just done the wheels and had been looking at the holes on the front of each! I had forgotten about the wheel located guns and the directions don’t mention them. Mind you - just holes. Gonna look on the net to see if in an find and pics.
