I have started to work on a diorama of the battle for tarawa and for it I have built an lvt-4 and I recently discovered that these types of lvts were not used in the battle. does anybody know a way to convert it into a lvt-1 or 2?
Verlinden makes a conversion kit. It’s kit number VPI2024 LVT(A) 2 Conversion & Interior. You might want to research this kit and see if it will work for you. Great Models Webstore has it.

Trakz also makes a conversion kit for the LVT-2. Or you could use the LVT-1A kit and lots of sheet plastic to do the LVT-2 kit with some good photo references. Since neither the -1 or -2 had a ramp, the -1A or -4A “amtanks” make a better starting point for the earlier “amtracs”.
